2018 Weekly Schedules

Here is a feature of this summer’s schedule and weekly themes!

First, a quick insight to what camper’s will do every week… days by Bear Lake swimming, kayaking, and stand up paddleboarding. Heading down to Tamarack Lodge every Tuesday for cooking, science experiments, geocaching, arts and crafts, and other activities specific to our weekly theme. A unique hike off-site from Bear Valley, like Lake Alpine, Spicer Meadow, Utica Reservoir, Big Trees, and more. Every Thursday grizzlies and kodiaks will rock climb with Mountain Adventure Seminars, unless there is a special kodiak event then they will climb another day in the week. Our cubs will climb every other week and will get a special climbing event just for them midsummer! Sprinkled throughout the week campers will participate in a range of outdoor activities from disc golf, archery, soccer, basketball, tennis, scavenger hunts, and bike days. Get ready to explore the beautiful High Sierra in style this summer!

Week 1- ALOHA… June 12-16

Welcome back campers, friends, family, and staff! Get ready for coconut bowling and a lake luau, maybe even some Hawaiian sledding! Campers will get a special day hiking or biking the Arnold Rim Trail down at White Pines. There they can take advantage of some beach volleyball, kayaking, or check out the logging museum.

Week 2- READING BY DESIGN… June 19-23

Each day campers will head to the library for a period of interactive literacy! After some long hours in the sun we’ll get to cool off and join our local librarian for some exciting reading and storytelling programs.

Week 3- WILDERNESS WONDERS… June 26-30

Before our overnights get underway campers will start learning basic camping skills! From building shelters, shaping spears, to preparing fires, and navigating our route. There will also be a special event for both the Kodiak and Grizzlies to campout at Big Trees!

Week 5- NATURE EXPLORATION… July 10-14

Can you dig it? Get your green thumbs out for gardening! Throughout the week campers will learn to identify plants, trees, scat, and tracks in our natural surrounding. We’ll have a day to soak in our beautiful environment at Spicer Meadow Reservoir for some fun in the natural landscape.

Get ready to sit in the splash zone this week. Campers will build their own cardboard boats to race at the end of the week. Later we’ll head down to the Stanislaus River for natural water slides, checking out our creek critters, and compete in water wars.
