2018 Weekly Schedules

Printable weekly schedules including drop off/pickup locations and gear to bring, will be posted here. Activities are subject to change based on weather conditions or unforeseen happenings. Parents will be notified of these changes as soon as possible.

Daily activities at Bear Lake, Lake Alpine, Spicer Reservoir, Utica or Union Reservoir include swimming, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, or fishing. Afternoons at Tamarack will include science projects, crafts, cooking, hiking, and outdoor games. Throughout the summer, campers will participate in a range of outdoor activities from mountain biking on trails, geocaching, or rock climbing to disc golf, soccer, basketball, tennis, scavenger hunts, and more. Get ready to explore the beautiful High Sierra this summer!

Week 1: June 18 – 22

Welcome back to the wild!

We are kicking off the summer with lots of great activities to welcome campers to the mountains. We will visit White Pines lake in Arnold where we invite all families for a BBQ!

Week 2: June 25 – 29

Reading Adventures!

This week we find new adventures in the Bear Valley Library. A special guest speaker will come for a visit and bring with them new stories and projects. Kodiaks will prepare for their first overnight backpacking trip!

Week 3: July 2 – 6

Stars and Stripes

Happy 4th of July! This week we will tie dye t-shirts, patriotically decorate our bikes and celebrate the birth of our nation. Don’t miss the Bear Valley Bike parade on Wednesday July 4th!

Week 4: July 9 – 13

Nature Discovery

Discover hidden treasures in the forest around us. This week we will learn about plant identification, animal tracks and scat, and cook with wild edible plants. Kodiaks will also prepare for the 2nd overnight backpacking trip!

Week 5: July 16 – 20

Wild Waters

Pack your suit and towel! This week we get wet and wild at the Stanislaus River. We will learn about Earth’s most valuable resource, slide down natural waterslides, and much more. 


Week 6: July 23 – 27

Outta this world!

Bear Valley is the best place for star-gazing and this week we see a full moon! We will build rocket ships to take our imagination to new heights and cook with solar ovens. 

Week 7: July 30 – Aug 3

Art in Nature

This week we take in all the beauty nature has to offer through hikes, art projects, scavenger hunts, and more awesome activities. Kodiaks will immerse themselves even deeper in nature during a overnight rafting trip.

Musical Bears

The Bear Valley Music Festival is here and with it brings new sounds to the forest. Join us as we explore nature with our ears – listening for bird songs, making instruments, and watching some musical performances!



*Requires an additional fee, limited spots and is subject to cancellation if minimum numbers are not met.

Kodiak Campers must attend camp the day before each special event so they can prep with their instructors and the entire group.
